Check out some of the great fitness classes included with your Family Fitness Center membership. Its a long post, 18 classes listed. Belly Dancing: Come learn the art of Belly Dancing – as exercise, it’s unbeatable for toning abs, waist, arms and thighs! Benefits also include flexibility in stiff hands, shoulders, neck, improved posture and aerobic stamina. The gentle movements isolate every part of your body and challenge you to discover muscles you forgot you had! Women of all ages and fitness levels are able to belly dance because the movements are natural to our bodies. Please wear light weight clothing that allows movement; you may dance barefoot if sneakers restrict dance steps. Hip scarves and veils are provided. Be prepared to have great fun and leave with a new appreciation of your beautiful body! Hot Yoga: This heated yoga class with a variety of postures systematically works every muscle, gland, and organ in the body. Hot Yoga is an excellent foundation to learn proper alignment and develop strength, flexibility, balance and concentration. All levels. Room will be heated with additional heaters. Please bring water and a towel. Step and Pump: This class is a total body, heart pumping, aerobic and strength conditioning workout. This interval-based class combines full-body strength training with high intensity cardio bursts designed to tone your body, improve your endurance, and burn lots of calories! Pilates: Pilates is a system of controlled exercises that engage the mind and condition the total body. The blend of strength and flexibility training improves posture, reduces stress and creates long, lean muscles without bulking up. Pilates takes a balanced approach so that no muscle group is overworked and the body moves as an efficient, holistic system in sport and daily activity. Total Body: Target your whole body using weights and body weight, there’s no counting. You do as many reps as you can and rest within a certain amount of seconds. Turbo Kick: The fat-blasting, ab-defining cardio workout that is sweeping the nation’s health clubs and allows you to burn up to 1,000 calories an hour! A mix of kickboxing and simple dance grooves set to heart pounding dance music that will have you looking forward to your next workout! Zumba Step: Combines toning and strengthening power of Step aerobics, with the fun fitness of Zumba. It increases cardio and calorie burning, while adding moves that define and sculpt your core and legs. Zumba : A total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, and boosted energy. Mixes low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Often called exercise in disguise. Zumba’s choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, meringue and mambo. Zumba Gold: Takes the popular Latin-dance inspired workout of Zumba and makes it accessible for seniors, beginners or others needing modifications in their exercise routine. Zumba Gold builds cardiovascular health by challenging the heart and working the muscles of the hips, legs and arms with dance moves. Tabata: A Tabata is a high-intensity workout protocol that has fitness and weight-loss benefits. The Tabata formula has been scientifically proven to increase your endurance and decrease your body fat! You will work for 20 seconds intervals of high intensity cardio or strength followed by 10 seconds of rest. The series repeats 8 times and ends with a minute of rest. •4 minutes long (whole Tabata Session) •20 seconds of intense training •10 seconds of rest •Total of 8 sessions or rounds Musical Resistance: Challenges all of your major muscle groups by using weight room exercises while using lower body and upper body. The choreography and motivating music changes every couple of months. Benches, resistance bands, mats, and hand weights will be used. Boot Camp: Boot camp is a combination of strength, muscle endurance, cardio, flexibility, and core work. The class is 45 minutes of interval training that is different every time! Teamwork, partner, or individual drills will keep you motivated and wanting more! Abs and Arms: Low impact core, abs and arm exercises. Flexibly Yoga: Stretching and yoga moves to improve flexibility. Legs Butt Core: Combination of body weight and weights to target specific areas in the legs, butts, and core. Self Defense: Teaches basic instruction on situational awareness, multiple attacker defense, and weapon defense. Hands-on instruction provided by instructor. Ages 14 and up. Tai Chi: This class is intended to introduce the student on how to strengthen the body internally and externally for health. Introduction to Tai Chi / Qigong / Meditative Breathing & Stretching / and the understanding of Yin and Yang theory for Beginners all welcome. Slow and deep breathing during Tai Chi practice will increase your lung capacity and oxygen intake help move your internal chi throughout your entire body. Helps in creating a healthier breathing habit. Regular practice will benefit your strength, flexibility, bone density and muscle mass. Willpower & Grace: A full-body, barefoot conditioning program incorporating dynamic stretching with high energy calorie burning
