Check out some video highlights from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team Rakkasans conducting a brigade-sized Air Assault and experience the first person perspective of getting into a UH60 Blackhawk Helicopter. 3rd BCT, 101st ABN DIV (AASLT) and 101st CAB, Wings of Destiny recently conducted the brigade-sized Air Assault called Operation Golden Eagle. Operation Golden Eagle featured more than 40 helicopters, more than 20 sling load missions and more than 1,100 Soldiers. This was a complex operation requiring extensive planning, training, and rehearsals and was the first Air Assault mission of this size for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in more than a decade. Exercises like this ensure our Screaming Eagles can provide the National Command Authority an air assault early entry force capable of working in austere environments with limited or degraded infrastructure.
