Check out the following news release for 2014 statistics from our Police Department Great areas of significant improvement, thanks in large part to the partnership and communication between community members and our officers. Congratulations to all! FRANKFORT POLICE RELEASE 2014 DEPARTMENT STATISTICS Frankfort, Ind. -- January 6, 2015 – As part of the Police Department’s ongoing communications, Police Chief Troy Bacon released 2014 statistics showing officers responded to and provided 12,892 police services last year, a decrease of 856 from 2013. Geographically, the northwest area of the City had the highest number of calls and services provided with 3,492 calls; which is 392 less than 2013. The area with the fewest calls and services provided was in the southwest portion of the community with 2,135. Although theft reports remain high at 606 reports taken, they are down by 92 reports when compared to 2013. Part of the decrease is due in large part to the cooperation by and communication from community members and theft prevention campaigns and information sessions held during the Department’s community meetings throughout the year. Burglary reports also were down in 2014 in that same part of the City. “One of the biggest complaints we received in 2014 was during our community meeting in the northwest portion of the city. Residents cited increased crime and quality of life issues. As a Department, our records confirmed these concerns and we organized directed patrols and crime reductions programs in that neighborhood. Although we still have work to do, we saw significant improvement from these efforts and the partnership with those neighbors,” Bacon said. In the northwest area of the city last year, police responded to 33 reported burglaries, down from 54 in 2013. Overall, thefts also saw a decrease from 211 in 2013 to 165 in 2014. Noise complaints also decreased from 99 in 2013 to 70 in 2014. The Frankfort Police Department cited 1,017 traffic violations and 1,060 violation warnings in 2014. For citations, the top three cited offenses were Seatbelt violations, Driver’s License and Registration violations and Disregarding Stops Signs. As for warnings, violations most issued were Parking Violations, Equipment Violations and Disregarding Stop Signs. “Overall, I am pleased with the Department’s crime reductions efforts. As a city, overall crime trends have fallen over the past 10 years. I am pleased 2014 was no different. Rest assured, continued directed patrols and crime reductions programs will continue into 2015,” Bacon said. “It is our Department’s mission to provide the best possible service in fighting crime, preserving peace, reducing fear and fostering a safe community.”
