Check out this Health Tip that I just saw on the iOS app Health Tip of the Day: "Acid producing foods force your body to give up its natural minerals (calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium) to maintain a stable ph balance. Many acid producing foods include: soft drinks, sugars, flour based products, cornstarch, cocoa, tea, coffee, vinegar, noodles, pasta, beans, lentils, vinegar, mustard, olives, catsup, shellfish, oatmeal, asparagus, beans and plums. Alkalizing foods include nuts, vegetables, avocado, raisins, honey, molasses, and fruits (including citrus, which is acid but causes an alkalizing response). To optimize health, strive to increase alkalizing foods in the diet."
