Some friends of ours, who are repeat customers, turned us on to Mourelatos Resort last year and we stayed a week in July 2013 in one of their rooms with the fully equipped kitchen. This really saved us money by going to the store and buying food that we could prepare in the kitchen or on their free BBQs. Eating out at restaurants in North Lake Tahoe area for a family quickly adds up and is very expensive. Otherwise their other rooms include a sink area, microwave, coffee maker, and a fridge. The spacious rooms are furnished with comfortable furniture and very comfortable beds and cable TV. The rooms are kept very clean by their courteous and attentive staff. Each room is provided with a foot wash bucket and towel on the porch to get rid of the sand before you go into your room as well as a table and chairs on your front deck that face the lake. We all, including our 7 year old son, fell in love with the resort during our initial stay there. Our stay was stress free and we really got to relax and enjoy ourselves the entire time. During your stay be sure to take your watch off because you wont care what time it is while youre there enjoying the life of leisure. The resort provides free kayaks, paddle boats, stand up paddle boards, canoes, beach games, Volleyball, Frisbee golf, etc as part of your stay as well as fire pits and Adirondack chairs on the beach area by the buildings for evening get togethers. They also have many lounge chairs under umbrellas on the beach as well as a large clean hot tub. The entire property, especially the beach is kept clean and litter free. The lake is also a great place to wade, swim, or go bounce on their floating trampoline. Across the street is some of the best ice cream you will ever taste too, I recommend the Espresso Chip! After our first stay we decided to make this a yearly destination. This past weekend (Sept. 2014) we went to a wedding in South Lake Tahoe and the resort we stayed at had alarmingly small rooms without TV and the crowded beach was a quite a bit of a walk to get to. We are sure glad we reserved a room at Mourelatos for at least a night after spending two nights in the hot cramped hotel room. We checked out of the South Lake Tahoe room first thing in the morning and drove to Mourelatos and arrived about 10:30 am. The front desk staff was very accommodating and even though check in isnt until 3pm, they made sure our room was cleaned first and we got checked in by 11:15am. In the meantime we walked down to the beach and shoreline and started to enjoy our stay immediately. Dont be surprised if the owner Alex Mourelatos himself stops to chat with you to make sure youre getting the most out of your stay. This past weekend Alex held a memorial for his late grandfather the founder of the resort, who had passed away recently. Alex invited all of the guests to the memorial as if they were part of the family too. I cant say enough great things about this reosrt, we just love it there and will continue to make it a yearly family trip. This resort is family ran and very family oriented. The resort is usually very low key and the guests are very respectful of each other. Dont expect a college spring break experience, because you wont find that here. When you leave you will feel like part of the Mourelatos family too. You just cant beat this fairly hidden gem of a location. I hope I dont regret posting this review and making the resort so busy that I cant get a room when I want to! tripadvisor/ShowUserReviews-g33156-d119562-r236103516-Mourelatos_Lakeshore_Resort-Tahoe_Vista_Lake_Tahoe_California_California.html#REVIEWS
