Check out this spin on Aikido . Morihei Ushiba OSensei , founder of Aikido through his years of instruction his students have emerged different strains of Aikido. Gozo Shioda learned his Aikido from OSensei before the second war. When OSensei was more Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu influenced . OSensei was photographed in shots showing atemis (Strikes) . O Sensei dojo was called Hell Dojo. Gozo Shioda also studied with Sokaku Takeda of Daito Ryu Aikjujutsu. Shioda called his Aikido Yoshinkan Aikido Which retained the harder ways of Aikido of OSenseis early years. Also Saito san was the head of OSenseis headquarters / Dojo Awana , Saito Shihan san was like wise a student of the early times of instruction from OSensei. At Stanley Parrins Aikido Friendship Fair , Saito Shihan displayed old hand made books of instructions with this harder older Aikido. He had been under scrutiny and received many Aikido practitioners disbelief in his legitimate Aikido techniques being from OSensei. Saitos comments were that all should try to find these books to learn the real way of Aikido as taught to him by OSensei. Tohei Senseis Aikido and his smooth flow was envied by many. He decided to establish the Ki- Society and steer his Aikido through the teachings shared with him on Ki by OSensei. And the list is longer than I could write. This now has many windows of many roads of Aikido. This version seems much closer to Jujitsu . Jujitsu is the window that developed Aikido and now it appears to have come full circle back to the main Art.
