Cheddar 64-0 beat Belvedere 63 all out by 10 wickets A comprehensive victory over bottom side Belvedere on Saturday saw Cheddar open up a 29 point gap at the top of Division 2 with 2 games left to play. Upon winning the toss vice captain Dowden elected to bowl and openers Adam Willis (0-16) and Tom Stevens (0-15) looked lively but were unable to make the breakthrough. However the introduction of change bowlers Liam Jones and Terry Clark soon saw Cheddar rip through the home sides line up, the pair sharing all 10 wickets between them in a devastating spell of bowling. Jones (6-13 from 10 overs) and Clark (4-18 from 7) ensured Belvedere were dismissed for just 63, leaving the visitors a modest total to chase. Openers Scott Harris (23no) and Oli Caton (32no) set about the total in positive fashion and although both were fortunate to survive through dropped catches, they saw Cheddar to a 10 wicket victoy in just 12.2 overs and before 4pm. Cheddar travel to Barrington this week knowing a maximum points victory would ensure promotion back to Division 1 after a 2 year absence.
