Indiana can do soooo much better! The State of the State address just ended and it went just as expected – it was a script for the 2016 Presidential primary. Once again, Governor Pence used his platform to speak to people like the Koch brothers and Tea Party leaders instead of Hoosiers. He didn’t answer Hoosiers’ questions. There was virtually no talk of growing our middle class or increasing household income. He continued to promote the corporatization of public schools instead of understanding Hoosiers need more access to Pre-K, affordable textbooks and tuition. There was no plan to offer hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers the health care they need. And he didn’t present any substantive way to restore the public’s trust in a Statehouse rampant with corruption and mismanagement. What we got were political talking points and a legislative agenda that helps only a few. Governor Pence is making clear to Hoosiers that he doesn’t have a vision for Indiana because he never intended to stick around long enough to have one. He chose to pander, instead of lead.
