Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has played down reports linking Ryan Bertrand with a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge. Blues full-back Bertrand, who is currently enjoying a temporary loan spell at Aston Villa, had become disillusioned with life in west London as he was awarded just a handful of chances to impress. Bertrand would be third choice left-back if he was still at Chelsea as Cesar Azpilicueta and Ashley Cole remain above the 24-year-old in Jose Mourinho’s defensive pecking order. However Portuguese tactician Mourinho has today revealed that Bertrand still has a future at the club - despite the fact he played just three games for Chelsea before sealing a move to Villa Park. Mourinho, speaking to SkySports, said on Bertrand: He has a future at Chelsea. “A future and a past. Of course he has a future. The decision to let him go to Villa was good because hes playing and what he needed was to play every game. But maybe next season he is with us. Bertrand’s future may rest on the future of Chelsea target Luke Shaw. The Southampton left-back has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge - but is also being tracked by Manchester United. Villa boss Paul Lambert will be without Bertrand for this weekend’s match against Chelsea as the Englishman is ineligible to play against his parent side.
