Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho stated his belief that it was in the best interest of all parties if Romelu Lukaku spent a full year with Everton. Chelsea agreed a deal with Everton in the final hours of transfer deadline day to send Lukaku to Goodison Park for the year, leaving the Blues with only three striking options. Mourinho defended his decision to allow the striker to sign the season-long loan with the Toffees amid recent criticism of his current trio of strikers, Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o, and Demba Ba. None of the three strikers have been able to score this season, with the lone exception being Fernando Torres’ goal in the UEFA Super Cup against Bayern Munich. Regardless of the slow start for Chelsea’s strikers, the boss stands by his decision. “I think it’s good for Lukaku and for Chelsea if he plays every game at Everton,” Mourinho said, according to talkSPORT. Jose may feel that Lukaku, who is only 20 years old, may benefit from more starting time instead of competing with veteran strikers such as Torres and Eto’o. The Belgian international will have an opportunity to shine for Everton this year, joining a striker contingent containing Steven Naismith, Arouna Kone, Nicka Jelavic, and Gerard Deulofeu. Lukaku may receive his first start this week as Everton will play West Ham on Saturday followed by Fulham on Tuesday in the Capital One Cup. Shuvam
