Chelsea vs Sporting Lisbon: The Preview. Chelsea face Sporting tomorrow in the final game of the group stages in the Champions League after Chelsea suffered their first ever defeat on Saturday against Newcastle in St. James’ Park. On Saturday, Chelsea’s unbeaten streak came to an end after losing 2-1 to Newcastle. Chelsea’s next game is against Sporting in the last game of the Champions League Group Stage — a competition which Chelsea have already progressed to the Round of 16 as group winners. So Chelsea will field their reserve squad as they will concentrate on the Premier League and will look to bounce back from their defeat in St. James’ Park. In the pre-match press conference, Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Hazard, Willian and John Terry will be excluded from the squad. He also confirmed that Chelsea youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek will definitely get to play some part, if not start in tommorow’s game. Chelsea’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois says that the defeat against Newcastle won’t affect them mentally. Obviously we are disappointed but we have to takes the positives, we are still top of the league and weve had a great start to the season, Courtois told the clubs official website. Okay, this was our first defeat but we have to keep working hard and things will go better for us again. We are confident that if we work hard in training and learn from our mistakes we will win again. Sporting need at-least a draw to qualify for the next round. Sporting have a major injury concern as Nani picked up an injury in their win against Boravista on Friday and Nani is unlikely to feature in tomorrow’s game. Sporting will also miss Cedric via suspension. Sporting will try their best against a Chelsea team and they will hope to get at-least a draw to qualify for the Round of 16. KICKOFF: 7:45PM...
