Chemo Thursday has made its way around again and Emma is doing - TopicsExpress

Chemo Thursday has made its way around again and Emma is doing fairly well. She just finished radiation treatment 16 of 28 today and we are inpatient at the hospital for the next 5 days for treatment. She is very tired and not feeling the best but staying as strong as possible. All the anti-nausea and vomiting medication makes her drowsy and as she puts it, Im not gonna be sick, I just dont feel good. Weve had a pretty eventful day... Emma learned to play the guitar with Collin and we had a visit from therapy dog Jake. Emma read him a story and he fell asleep touching heads with Emma, it was precious! At the moment, this precious, strong, and brave child is sleeping in my arms. Theres no better feeling. We are blessed because even though she is enduring an unimaginable sickness, we are still here, holding our girl. We still get to send her off to school. We still get to take her out in public without being quarantined. We still have our girl, who is fighting the fight, braving the walk, and going strong (most of the time)! There is no other explanation to Emmas strength and avoidance of side effects other than Gods strength being provided and the hedge of protect that He has bestowed over her. Every other patient that is receiving this type of radiation is burned and/or red at the site, not Emma. Other patients need feeding tubes because of lack of appetite or throat soreness, not Emma. Shes, beyond a shadow of a doubt, AMAZING! We have friends here at the hospital....Faculty, Drs, nurses but especially our cancer friends. We can talk to each other and understand the stresses and hardships 100%. We constantly pray for our special friends... we have ones that are on the same ride and those who are literally fighting for their life. We know that God has put each and everyone of them in our life for a specific reason and we thank God for these precious babies and families. Continue to remember and pray for all these tender babies. They are enduring things no one would want to imagine, they are fighting fights that children should not have to fight and they cant fight alone. We as parents not only have to BE their caregivers but advocates FOR their care. We have to somehow trust those who wear the white coats but also realize they may not know everything and we have to stress over these issues, praying and hoping they are getting the best care. Pray for our medical staff as well, it must be stressful having all these tiny lives to care for! We continue to be exemely grateful for the prayers, love and support we receive and see each day. God continues to provide all our needs and we have so many of you to thank for that! Thank you from the bottom of our heart!!!!
