Cherokee Nation’s newly relocated tag office in Tahlequah will have an open house Monday, a media release states. Principal Chief Bill John Baker, Deputy Chief S. Joe Crittenden and tribal councilors from Cherokee County will be available for a meet and greet. The 6,000-square-foot office will better serve Cherokee Nation citizens purchasing license plates. The space has five service windows, a larger lobby and more parking. After the Cherokee Nation expanded its car tag program statewide last year, more than 10,000 additional license plates have been sold, generating more revenue. In fiscal year 2014, the Cherokee Nation generated $11 million in motor vehicle tag revenue, up about $2 million from fiscal year 2013. The Cherokee Nation operates six tag offices, including a new office in Tulsa and expanded offices in Sallisaw and Tahlequah.
