Peterman” on “Seinfeld,” the number one syndicated series in the world. Others may recognize O’Hurley as the ultimate champion on season one of “Dancing with the Stars,” a former host of “Family Feud,” and a headliner in stage productions such as “Monty Python’s Spamalot.” He has released a number of musical albums and written two books, including the New York Times Bestseller “It’s Okay to Miss the Bed on the First Jump: And Other Life Lessons I Learned from Dogs.” Chicago is the number one longest-running American musical in Broadway history and has been honored with six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and a Grammy Award. The film adaptation of the show received six Academy Awards and featured some of Hollywood’s most well-known talent. This national tour of Chicago features the same 1920s decadence, themes of corruption and violence and classic Fosse-style choreography that has entertained audiences around the world since 1975. Audiences familiar with the film and the stage production of the show will immediately recognize the familiar characters of crooked housewife Roxie Hart and her cellmate, Velma Kelly, as well as their slick criminal lawyer, Billy Flynn. Despite the minimalist elements of the show, Chicago remains as glamorous as ever. There is little set and few costume changes, allowing the talents of O’Hurley and the rest of the cast to take center stage. In addition to some of theater’s most recognizable musical numbers, Chicago establishes a conversation about the creation of sensational headlines through malicious crimes, making it as relevant to today’s audiences as ever. Time Magazine calls it “A triumph,” Newsweek declares it as “Smashing,” and Entertainment Weekly agrees that Chicago is “Broadway’s most electrifying show.”
