Chief Chet Epperson swore in 14 new recruit officers this afternoon. Pictured are the officers with Chief Epperson and Board of Fire & Police Commissioners Lorraine Logan and Henrietta Dotson-Williams. Here is a list of the officers hired: Officer John Herra graduated from Boylan Central Catholic High School in Rockford, IL. He also graduated from Loras College receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Philosophy. John was employed at Loras College Library and interned with the Rockford Police Department prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. Officer Mirsad Berisha graduated from Wheaton North High School in Wheaton, Illinois. He graduated from College of DuPage receiving an Associate of Arts degree and from Lewis University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mirsad was employed at Securitas Security Services prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. Officer Brandon Neuman graduated from Belvidere High School in Belvidere, Illinois. He attended Rock Valley College and is a Veteran of the United State Marine Corps receiving a Honorable Discharge in February 2014. Brandon was employed at Schnucks Grocery Store prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. Officer Bryce Davis graduated from Rockford Christian High School in Rockford, Illinois. He attended Rock Valley College and graduated from Western Illinois University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. Bryce was employed at Rockford Detective Agency and Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. Officer Brandon Mather graduated from Jefferson High School in Rockford, Illinois. He graduated from Rock Valley College receiving an Associate in Science degree and from Northern Illinois University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. Brandon is a veteran of the United States Navy receiving an Honorable Discharge in 2012. Brandon completed his bachelor degree prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. Officer Michael Machnik graduated from West Leyden High School in Northlake, IL. He also graduated from Illinois State University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. Michael was employed at Russo Power Equipment and Leyden Township Community Center prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. Officer John Cosgriff graduated from Schaumburg High School in Schaumburg, IL. He graduated from William Rainey Harper College receiving an Associate in Applied Science in Law Enforcement degree. John was employed at Aero-Tech Staffing prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. Officer Kyle Haugh graduated from Community High School South in Downers Grove, IL. He attended College of DuPage and graduated from University of Illinois Chicago receving a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts & Science degree. Kyle was employed at Jewel Grocery Store prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. Officer Andrew Kennington graduated from Harlem High School in Loves Park, IL. He graduated from Northern Illinois University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. Andrew was employed at Winnebago County Juvenile Detention and Kelly Williamson Company prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. Officer David Holzrichter graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, IL. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree and is currently serving in the Illinois National Guard. David was employed at Waukegan Park District prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. Officer Danielle Huber graduated from Indian Creek High School in Shabbona, IL. She attended Sauk Valley Community College and graduated from Western Illinois University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. Danielle was employed at DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. Officer Harley Wessner graduated from Jefferson High School in Rockford, IL. Harley is currently serving in the Army National Guard. Harley was employed at Red Robin Gourmet Burgers prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. Officer Matthew Warren graduated from Rockford Christian High School in Rockford, IL. He graduated from Judson University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. Matthew is currently serving in the Indiana Army National Guard. Matthew was employed at Winnebago County Corrections Department prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department Officer Lucas Guyton graduated from West High School in Davenport, IA. He graduated from Scott Community College receiving an Associate in Applied Science degree. Lucas was employed at Medic EMS and Gravity Fitness/Champions Training Center prior to being hired by the Rockford Police Department. These Officers will receive a portion of their training at the Police Training Institute in Champaign, IL which will include a 480-hour Basic Training Course for Local Law Enforcement Officers. They will also participate in a four week City School Course and assigned to a Field Training Officer for twenty weeks as part of their training.
