"Chief Justice Menon said pro bono work is important to lawyers and to the legal profession because it emphasises that all are equal before the law. He also emphasised the need to uphold community law (family and criminal law). This is especially important when we are now in a very litigatious society caused by our changing attitudes, awareness of our rights and our intolerance to anything that may threaten our social or physical space."
