Chief’s babble….on the BIG parade. If you like parades, you will NOT want to miss this year’s Brimfest Crazy Cousins Reunion and Veterans Welcome Home Parade. Last year people thought we had lost our minds when we invited our 80,000 cousins to the parade. This year…yikes. It is going to be a lot of fun. So far, we have nearly 500 veterans coming to walk, ride or be pushed in the parade. It is one heck of a gathering of heroes. We have the Ohio Veterans Home bringing a large van full of veterans and they will be escorted by their home town police agencies. We also are expecting the VA hospital to drive two or more buses of veteran patients in the parade again this year. If you saw those buses last year…you likely watched them through tears and chills. We will have horses, unicycles, bands, corvettes, mustangs, floats, fire trucks, police cars and great groups like “Dogs for Warriors,” the Boy Scouts and active military service people. This year, the parade will be the largest in the history of our parades; and will likely have the most spectators. We want to see flags waving, banners being held and lots of “thank-you” hollering. It is never too late to register. If you are a veteran of any service era, email us for a registration. If you have a group, vehicle or the like and want to walk with us, do the same. The email address is parade@brimfieldpolice. Carry on....Chief Oliver.
