China Focus: China Food and Drug Administration, China Compulsory Certification, Registration of Food Importers, Certificate of a Pharmaceutical Product, Hazardous Goods and Tariff Classification (HS Codes). The import documentation for the P.R. of China has been reviewed and adapted accordingly. The following changes have been made: Reformation in the Food and Drug Administration In the framework of reformation processes, the former State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) has been renamed China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA). In addition, particular responsibilities of the authority have been decentralised and assigned to its provincial departments. The documents affected by these changes have been amended accordingly. Moreover, the supervision of particular medical devices has been made the sole responsibility of the CFDA (please refer to the Registration of Medical Devices); thus the goods in question are no longer subject to the China Compulsory Certification and the tariff classification (HS Codes) of said document has been updated to this effect. Registration of Food Importers The document entitled Registration of Importers of Foodstuffs has been newly incorporated into this report. Please turn to said document and the related section on Foodstuffs and Related Goods below for details. Pharmaceuticals This report has been enhanced with the document entitled Certificate of a Pharmaceutical Product, which has been newly added to the set of documents. It may be required for the purpose of registration of pharmaceuticals. Please see the quoted document for further information. Hazardous Goods The section on Hazardous Goods in this overview has been enhanced with the contact details of the Official Contact Point (OCP) in the P.R. of China with regard to the Stockholm Convention. Moreover, the document entitled Export Notification for Goods Coming under the Rotterdam Convention has been newly included in this report. Tariff Classification (HS Codes) The tariff classification (HS Codes), i.e. the scope of goods to which the respective measures apply, of the following documents has been updated in accordance with a recent joint announcement by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and the General Administration of Customs of the P.R. of China (GAC): Automatic Import Licence Automatic Import Licence for New and Used Mechanical and Electronic Appliances
