Chinese Ship Hears Underwater Ping A Chinese vessel searching for the Boeing 777 that went down in the Indian Ocean in March has reportedly detected a pulse that could be coming from the planes black box. A crucial stage of the search began Friday as Britain and Australia dispatched ships to conduct the underwater phase, mostly search for signals from the wreckage. The black boxs batteries, which last for a bout a month, are expected to run out next week.
