Chingola South Township in 66KV power project GOVERNMENT will construct a 66 Kilo-volts (KV) power substation for overhead line to mitigate the ever growing demand in the district. Speaking in Chingola District Commission Roy Nangalelwa said the proposal substation meet the demands of commercial, residential and industry developments in the district. Mr Nangalelwa who did not quantify the cost of the project said his Government has embarked on a pro-active program to increase capacity and also to provide for planned future development. He said the overhead line will run from Chambeshi Copper Smelter to proposed substation in Chingola South Township. The line is expected cover an approximated distance of 30 kilometres. The DC the project is a clear demonstration that his Government is implementing what it promised before the 2011 general elections. “This project will is also going to create a lot of jobs for the youths. We will also compensate the people that will be affected during the execution of the project. “I’m appealing to the people not to vandalize what is going to be constructed because it is for the betterment of the country as a whole,” he implored. Mr Nangalelwa said that since the line will passing through remote areas people will easily benefit via connection in their homes. Meanwhile the DC has welcomed World Vision operation on the construction of a Gender Based Violence center. Mr Nangalelwa said that he is happy that Chingola has successfully met all criteria for implementing stop GBV project. He said that he was very grateful that Chingola is going to have a GBV center, meaning that GBV victims will have where to report to apart from Victim Police Unit (VSU) Mr Nangalelwa has implored the members of the community to make use of the facilities and not to let it turn into a white elephant.
