Chinwike Justice Oke-Nwosu : I am an apostle of free speech and freedom of movement! I also believe that insurgents instil fear and psychological defeat in minds of people where they operate! The induced fears and apprehension cause people not to live a normal life. However the WAR WITHOUT BORDERS in which brutes called Boko Haram have engaged the civil population of Nigerians in, calls for extra ordinary measures in order to safeguard the lives of innocent citizens. Profiling is acceptable and if certain individuals fall into particular profile of the BH insurgents, and if there is no clear explanation as to the nature of their movement or missions, security personnels must be allowed to detain them; but must have responsible and decorum to treat them with dignity and in humane way. There is nothing as gruesome as taken innocent lives in cold blood in peace time and where the victims are carrying out their normal daily activities. Extraordinary times demand extra ordinary measures. For us NdiIgbo, despite attempts to detonate bombs in Igbo land, I call on our people not to attack non-Igbos in our communities without any proof they pose danger to our people. We Igbos are peace loving and hardly engage in violent acts. We normally live peacefully with other people and we show love to our guests. That is who we are! We must not allow barbarians to drag us and our superior values down to the gutter where they and their ilk occupy. What we must do is to be vigilant at all times and to be our neighbours best keepers! We must protect all nationalities living peacefully amongst us and should reassure them and show them love no matter their stock, descent and religious inclinations. As the cloud gathers, NdiIgbo must continue to weigh our options and continually develop affirmative positions and building alliances as we navigate the treacherous political land mines of Nigerian federal state.
