“Chor Chor Mausere Bhai”: Thieves are Like Cousins It was - TopicsExpress

“Chor Chor Mausere Bhai”: Thieves are Like Cousins It was not a surprise when when we heard Omar Abdullah saying that Jammu and Kashmir had acceded to India but not merged with it and also followed with Mufti Syed’s statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, needs to revisit the circumstances when the state’s accession took place in 1947. We have been seeing this for last 6 decades. It has been in the blood of these Kashmiri Politicians, to spark the emotional side whenever they see a threat knocking their political doors. That is the reason why family driven political business has flourished in Kashmir. Whether it was Sheikhs dynasty or Mufti’s, they know well how and when to exploit the local Kashmiri’s sentiment. The statements these leaders will choose and use in their rhetoric is to sound themselves as the real saviors of Kashmiri’s dignity and identity and also show India as a perpetuator. This political opportunism they will use only either when elections are near or they are threatened at some of their selfish political ambitions. There is actually no difference between them and the radicals with gun, who exploit in the name of religion. This is their easiest, safest and non-threatened way of using religion as an under-cover through these statements, perhaps raking up sentiments against India is equivalent to raking religious sentiments in an political emotional way, given the partition of country happened on religious basis. In fact these rhetorics and expolitational techniques was one of the reasons for many youths getting attracted towards gun as well. Perhaps our pseudo secular political parties and institutions have never recognized these under cover tactics of these opportunistic Kashmiri Leaders and why should they be given, most of them have to run their selfish political shops as well in other parts of the country. However situation has changed and this time the perceived threat by NC and PDP is even more higher, given that more than 70% electorate rejected their connived boycott calls of past and BJP flags and marches are rising high putting a bigger risk to their future ambitions where they feel threatened with a new segment emerging in Kashmir, that may threaten their age-old calls of autonomy , merger questions etc. This new segment is more vociferous, unrelenting, openly supporting NaMo ideology. Traditionally NC and later PDP, who always thought Kashmir was their fiefdom and have a undeclared understanding that they will rule the state in a seasonal and rotational way and will loot the state till zenith, suddenly see this slipping out of their hands There is another threat also that the inner circles of these parties is debating these days. The feel is that given BJP has a majority in the center and if they succeed in Mission 44 by any chance now, the issues related to abrogation, integration may be settled by them in their own way, because power in center and state can lead to a potential situation where state assembly will ratify anything that is proposed by Parliament of India leaving them toothless in the state and an end to their Political Careers. There is a beautiful Couplet by Ghalib. Umar bhar Ghalib yahi Bhool karta Raha, Dhool Chehre pe Thi, aur aina saaf karta raha....! Raj Nehru
