Chris Baltenberger shared this earlier this morning. The song - TopicsExpress

Chris Baltenberger shared this earlier this morning. The song reflects the sentiment of being a veteran... and its a powerful video. To me, what is even more powerful than the song, is the sentiment that Chris shared through his post! Wonderfully written Christopher. Here are his words (thank you for allowing me to share them with other Chris)... Its Christmas Day and like many law enforcement officers today Im working. And Im reflecting on the past year and how things have changed. After doing this job for 2 1/2 almost 3 years now the question I get regularly still has many answers. The question what does it mean to be a police officer or how does it feel to be a cop. After that question they always ask what the blue line stickers mean and what they stand for. I always explain that the blue line represents the police as a thin blue line between good and evil. Which generally gets an accepting nod or the ever so popular oh ok. But what many people dont ask is what it means to be part of that thin blue line... Well I decided to give a little insight into how it feels. The song I posted basically describes it. While I know the video has military in it, being an officer feels to me just as this song describes. Ive never seen myself as a hero or someone that should be given special treatment because I wear a badge for my job. I made the choice to do this for my living. That being said... With all the bad press and negativity in the media of police/ law enforcement in general. Id like for you all to sit and think for a minute about how you would feel... How youd feel to know no matter what action you take someone is going to be negatively effected and they will make sure you know it. Too know that this morning when you left your family may be the last time they see you just because someone doesnt want a traffic ticket or doesnt feel like going to jail. So yes, the official answer to what is the blue line and what does it stand for is what I say... After hearing this song... I think being part of the thin blue line is like being a buffer between good and evil. And feeling like youre on the wrong side of heaven and the righteous side of hell. But in saying that Ill also say....I wouldnt trade a day of it. This is what I chose to do and no amount of hatred toward me and my brothers will ever waiver the loyalty I have to them and this brotherhood we are a part of called law enforcement. We are not Heroes.... we are men and women called to do a job where split second decisions mean life or death. With all that said, I hope everybody has a happy and safe Christmas. And too my law enforcement family... Stay frosty, stay safe, watch your 6, and go home tonight!
