Chris Columbus was a pretty cool guy. He believed that the world was round, but not spherical. He believed it was shaped like a pear, and like any good god fearing christian man, that the top was shaped like a nipple. On the top of the nipple was heaven, and a good Catholic would go there when they died. He also hung out with kings and queens and convinced them to give him money so he could find said nipple, and they did. How cool is that? Nipple money started one of the major initial sparks of globalization. He never found that nipple, but he certainly tried (And wrote books about it too!) He never actually landed at mainland America, according to the records, and therefore never really interacted with the indigenous people of the southern or eastern North American coast. For the most part the small colonies he founded were overrun by the local population after a few years of their founding. Also: the events that took place roughly 70 years after Chris Columbuss journeys led to Spanish trade with Ming China, and spread silver all over the planet. It also caused Mexico City to become the largest and most diverse metropolis on the entire planet, with over 45 local languages and citizens from over 70 different heritages. Chris was just about as crazy and assbackwards as any modern educated European of the late 1400s with a monarchs supply of funds. Dont believe me? Visit your local library to find out more!
