Chris LaMont Ottosen 1939-2015 Chris LaMont Ottosen died surrounded by loved ones in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 75. After a valiant fight he succumbed to complications due to a massive burn injury on January 2, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Terry Lynn Anderson Ottosen. He was born on September 8, 1939 in American Fork, Utah, the son of Edwin LaMont Ottosen and Donna Pearl Peterson. He grew up and attended school in Kamas, Utah where he developed his love of farming and the out of doors. He was always mechanically minded and spent all of his time fixing his toys instead of playing with them. After serving an LDS mission in the North Central States, he then began his 8 years of military service. He married the love of his life on October 23rd 1963 in the Salt Lake temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Together they welcomed 6 children into their home. They lived their lives in Kamas, Utah, Hereford Texas, and Blackwell Oklahoma. They returned to Kamas in 2003. With his beloved companion, Terry, they served a full time mission in the Ecuador Quito Mission 2007-2009. He was the owner of High Mountain Equipment. He spent his time repairing old farm equipment, making bale forks and loving to talk with friends in the valley. Chris was one of the hardest workers you’ll ever meet. He was completely devoted to his family and his church. He never met a person he didn’t like, nor was there anyone who didn’t like him. His Mom always said he could talk to anyone, be it king or peasant. He was passionate about family, snow skiing, farm machinery, farming, and spending time in the Uintah Mountains. He showed his commitment to the gospel and love for the Savior through many years of service in missionary work and Branch and Ward leadership as well as freely sharing his testimony with everyone he met through word and deed. His was a lifelong example that will continue to inspire, to warm and to comfort all those with whom he shared a part of himself. He is survived by his wife Terry Anderson Ottosen, Children: Nathan Ottosen, Kristiana (Allen) Hales, Angelyn (Brooks) Bennett, Daynis Kelly (Jason) Fees, Kimberly (Darren) Richman, Aaron (Nikita) Ottosen, 13 Grandchildren, and sister, Dawniece Van Duren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janiece Marchant. A viewing will be held at the LDS Chapel 100 West Center Street, Kamas, Utah, Wednesday January 7th from 6-8 pm and on Thursday January 8th from 9-10:30 am. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 with internment at Marion City Cemetery. The family is so grateful for the loving support of the staff at the Burn Center Trauma Unit. In Lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Burn Center Trauma Unit , University of Utah Hospital, 50 North Medical Drive, SLC, Ut 84132 in Chris Ottosen’s name.
