Chris Mendez, Victor Drew Jimenez, John Serna One of the best games of the season was played last night, between the Indiana Pacers and the surprising Portland Trail Blazers. Indiana a team not known for a lot of offense, had to play the style the Blazers love to play every single night, scoring a whole lot of points, but the Pacers did make a few defensive plays in overtime to win the game at the very end. Superstar SF Paul George did struggle all game long to score, but he did finds ways to affect the outcome of the game. Doing the little things that many dont notice, but truly matters the most at the very end. Paul George scored 11 of his 17 points in the 4th quarter and overtime combined, including two clutch baskets in the overtime. George neared a triple-double as well, with 7 assists, 6 rebounds, along with 2 steals and 6-6 from the free-throw line. Even though C Roy Hibbert only scored 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, he was able to grab a key offensive rebound in the final seconds of the 4th quarter, then he made a great pass to PG George Hill for the game-tying 3-pointer that ended up sending the game into overtime. Hibbert also made a clutch basket with about a minute to go in overtime, that helped Indiana extend there lead. Despite Portland having the early lead in the game, the Pacers were able to make a strong comeback, and kept chipping at the Blazers lead. Two of there most underrated players were able to step up when they had too offensively, and provide a key spark to give them the big win over the Blazers. Hill and West combined to score 48 points in the 2nd half, and 7 of those points came in overtime. The Pacers starting point guard George Hill spark up a career-high 37 points while shooting 12-17 from the field, 2 steals, 8 assists, 9 rebounds, 2-4 from 3-point land and 11-12 from the free-throw line. PF David West and PG George Hill, had there best games by far of the season. West scored 23 of the his season-high 30 points in the 2nd half, including 14 of those points coming in the 4th quarter and overtime combined. West also had 2 block shots, 10 rebounds and 4-6 from the free-throw line and he shot 13-16 from the field as well. Hill scored 25 of his career-high 37 points in the 2nd half, including 14 of those points coming in the 4th quarter and overtime combined as well. Hill was incredible, magnificent, and making it extremely difficult for the Blazers to stop him all game long. Hill was confident, showed true leadership, believe, he was aggressive to the basket, buried clutch jump shots, including a clutch 3-pointer that sent the game into overtime and knocked down 3 clutch free-throws in the overtime, as the Pacers get the 118-113 overtime victory. The Pacers improved to an NBA-Best 39-10, and improved to a home-best 24-2, while the Blazers fell to 35-15. George Hill had a solid quarter in the 1st period, scoring 4 points, but slowly and surely in the 2nd half, he explodes offensively and provides the Pacers the spark they needed, in order to win the game. First, Hill makes a strong move the basket, scoring the driving layup, then Hill dishes the pass to West for the wide-open jumper. Hill gets the steal, goes on the fast-break, and makes the slam dunk, but Indiana trailed 28-16 heading into the 2nd quarter. Hill continued his solid start in the 2nd quarter, scoring 8 of his 12 first half points and helping the Pacers cut into the Blazers by halftime. First, Hill makes the pass to SG Rasual Butler for the wide-open 3-pointer, then Hill sets himself up for the two-point jumper. Hill does a strong move into the paint and scores the reverse layup, then he knocks down two free-throws. Hill with a great post move, then makes the turnaround bank shot. Hill explodes in the 2nd half, scoring 25 of his career-high 37 points, dished out 6 of his 8 assists and helped Pacers get back into the game. Hill scored 11 of his 37 points in the 3rd quarter, as the Pacers continue to chip away into the Blazers lead. First, Hill makes two free-throws, then he finds West for the two-point jumper. Hill once again, knocks down two more free-throws, then he buries the pullup jumper. Hill dishes the pass to SF Danny Granger for the wide-open jump shot, then he finds West once again for the jumper. Hill gets a pass from George and knocks down the 3-pointer over his defender. Hill goes on a one-man fast-break, quickly making the floater, but Portland still leads 77-71 heading into the 4th quarter. Hill continues his red-hot 2nd half, scoring 9 points in the 4th quarter, dished out 2 more of his 8 assists, but it was his clutch 3-pointer that helped Indiana sent the game into overtime. First, Hill dishes the great pass to West for the wide-open jumper, then he gets the offensive rebound and scores the putback layup. Hill makes a move into the paint, scoring the floating bucket, then he makes the pass to West for another jumper. Hill knocks down two free-throws, then Hibbert gets the offensive rebound, dishes the quick pass to Hill for the game-tying 3-pointer that helped sent the game into overtime tied at 103 apiece. Hill continues to make his impact known in overtime, scoring 5 points, giving him a career-high 37 points, as the Pacers comeback to win the game. First, Hill makes the great pass to George for the easy slam dunk, then Hill makes the two-point bucket in the paint. Hill knocks down 3 free-throws in the final seconds, as the Pacers comeback to get the 118-113 overtime victory. Even though the Pacers gave up 113 points in the game, but they did force 15 turnovers and scored 18 points off those Blazers turnovers. The Pacers were out-rebounded 47-46, but they did outscored Portland 40-24 in points in the paint. Indiana was quicker than Portland, as the Pacers outscored the Blazers 13-4 in fast-break points.
