(Chris) The NZ Society of Authors Canterbury Branch has arranged a talk by Jim Azevedo, Marketing Director for Smashwords. He will talk about ebook trends, and publishing challenges and successes. When: Tuesday 19 August, 6:00 to 7:30 pm (talk followed by Q&A) Where: South Library (Beckenham) Learning Centre, 66 Colombo St (far side of the library - use after hours entrance. Cost: $5 for current NZSA members and $15 for non-members. NO registration, just get there early to secure a seat. Doors open at 5:40 pm and will be closed when the speaker begins. Heres Jims bio: Jim Azevedo is the marketing director at Smashwords, the largest distributor of self-published ebooks serving over 90,000 independent authors, publishers and literary agents. Since 2008, Smashwords has helped authors around the world publish and distribute more than 300,000 titles to retailers such as Apple iBooks, Barnes & Noble, Kobo and Flipkart, as well as to subscription services Oyster and Scribd, and also to libraries through its partnerships with OverDrive and Baker & Taylor.
