Chris and I are very thankful for all your support. In recent weeks there have been some very false information being spread around on Facebook and verbally regarding visitations rights and other decisions reportedly made by myself (Kayla). Chris and I are not interested in pointing fingers, name calling, etc., but we do want to set the record straight. From the very beginning of Chris moving to rehab, the staff has had a concern regarding his mothers behavior while visiting Chris at rehab. There have been numerous incidents of food (as in chunks of partially digested or undigested food) in his vomit and visitation schedules set up between her and the director not being followed. I have had numerous meetings, consultations and calls with the director, case manager and other staff regarding issues stemming from her behavior. His mother has been advised and educated by the staff verbally and most recently in writing outlining her rights to visit Chris. Unfortunately, this past week I was informed by the director that because of her continued behavior that she can no longer visit Chris. This is very unfortunate because she is his mother, however the prime responsibility of the rehab facility, as well as mine, is Chriss well being. In their professional opinion, this is the way it must be. Please continue to pray for Chriss healing. Edited to add: Chris is NPO (nothing by mouth) because his swallowing is impaired. He is a very high aspiration risk (food and liquids going into the lungs). The speech therapist tries pureed foods with him for practicing on how to properly swallow, but all other staff (nurses and myself included) are not allowed to feed him.
