Chrissi brought Chen over to spend a few days with me and a GIFT... When they were on their honeymoon Chrissi and Ben visited Mexico. My gift is MEXICAN VANILLA. Many, many, many years ago my beloved sister-in-law brought me Mexican vanilla and it has been my favorite kitchen staple ever since. The only problem is I have never been able to find it here. They sell a product called Mexican vanilla in the supermarket but the flavor is not the same. Anytime someone I know is visiting Mexico I BEG them to bring me a bottle of vanilla. My Christmas baking will be exceptionally good this year. I was only planning to make a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving, but now I am going to make a French Silk Chocolate pie also. They both freeze well and I will have pie for a month or two. Babysitting Chen . . . I have half a page of notes regarding her care and feeding.
