Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col 2:2-3). Beloved, I say this so that no one will deceive you with persuasive words. It is the world, both religious and pagan, that is very much dependent on philosophy, traditions of men, legalism and elementary principles to hold them together—without Christ, what else do they have? But in Colossians, The Holy Spirit is not warning the world to avoid such things, he is warning God’s children. Why? Because every child of God starts in the world and must be set free from the deceptions of the world. Philosophy, traditions of men, legalism & elementary principles not only hold the religious and pagan world together, but they also deceive God’s children by conforming them in their flesh. After all, the flesh conforms no other way! But you Beloved, you were created according to God and therefore it is in Christ where all the abundant treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden. But how do you know if you are still walking according to the wisdom of the world, rather than according to Christ? Simple. Boasting, challenging & envying (Gal 5:26). Do you envy the wisdom of others, rather than Christ? Do you challenge one another with the wisdom you have? Are you boasting to others that they should apply your wisdom in their life? All of these reveal a walk that is according to the wisdom of man, and behavior that is according to the flesh, having been conformed to the world. Those who are without Christ cannot do anything but boast, challenge & envy one another, while living out the desires of their flesh. But you Beloved are not of the world, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Those who are new creations in Christ belong to God, they worship in spirit, boast only in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. As Gods children our confidence comes from having complete clarity of the true knowledge of Gods mystery, Christ, in whom are hidden all the abundant treasures of wisdom and knowledge. If you believe this, continuously walk in Christ just as you have received Him. Your citizenship is in heaven Beloved, may the faith of Christ richly dwell within you. Blessings.
