Christian Democrats by Lindie Gibson The other day a friend of mine made the comment there are a lot of Democrats that are Pro Life.... Id like to say something here, and ask - how can a Christian align themselves with a political party that approves of the slaughter of our unborn children, and.... in this last political campaign period - allign themselves with a party that openly has made the statement and political stand that they do not want God in any part of who they are....? How can anyone consider themself a Christian and a Democrat....? Vinegar and oil dont mix - and I dont care how hard you shake the bottle..... When I was at Montana State University in the early 70s, there was a panel of students conducting a test - for Sociology or Psychology or Home Ec or maybe some other class... and they had a table set up in the hallway of the main lobby of the SUB building, and it was a Cola Taste Test.... and there were 6 small dixi cups in a row, and you were asked to sample each one, and one at a time - tell them which Cola you were drinking.... You had to give an answer after each drink.... I thought itd be fun to do, and I felt confident Id know which was which, because Id tasted all of them before and they were definitely each a little different... The students conducting the taste test also had a list of the colas laying on the table, so you could look at the list and then after taking a drink - tell them which Cola you had just tasted... If I remember right, there was Coke and Pepsi and Diet Right Cola and Shasta Cola and Tab and Diet Coke.... So Id pick up a cup and drink some and say which Cola I thought I had just drunk... and you had to taste them in the order they had numbered them.... It seemed easy enough, and I started naming what I thought I had just tasted, and they would check off that name on the list... but after the 3rd cup, the colas all started tasting the same, and pretty soon I wasnt all that sure which one I was drinking. I was amazed that after a few cups, my taste buds were fooling me....and I was shocked at how they all began to taste the same ( and yet they definitely werent....) I even asked the panel if it was a trick and that some cups held the same Cola, and they assured me that each cup had a different cola in it. The student panel allowed you to go back and taste a previous cup and change your answer, but then it got really confusing.... The key was - that you were not allowed to rinse your mouth and tastebuds in between colas and so your tastebuds were not properly prepared to distinguish between flavors, much like reading a variety of spiritual material, and yet not washing and renewing our minds with through the washing of the water of the Word to where we can distinguish between truth and error.... Now - lets say for instance, if you want to poison your mate, you simply start placing small amounts of arsenic in their drink or food - just enough so they cant taste the it; and then irepeat the doses until one day, they drop dead.... The amount of darkness is in direct relation to the amount of light in the room.... where the light is - darkness scatters,a nd with arsenic, it stays in our systems for awhile and so the daily doses add up, until your body has a lethal dose of it ( that has been administered one day at a time...) Bit by bit, and drink by drink, and dose by dose - Christians in America have been sipping different Colas , while only one is the Real Thing, until we dont know which cola is which, without rinsing our minds with the Water of the Word .... and we go on our merry way - probably thinking that it doesnt matter... and that all colas are created equal and all taste good and all look alike, so what difference does it make....(?) The more we spiritually drink the wrong cola - the more we lose our taste for the real thing.... We can put on the CHRISTIAN nametag, and yet our hearts and minds may be full of every other teaching and worldly value system but the right and true ones... and in the end - end up full of darkness and even more dangerous - spiritually dead... full of vinegar and full of arsenic The label CHRISTIAN should also be synonymous with LIFE and more importantly - TRUTH, and THE WAY.... A little arsenic wont kill you - but repeated doses will.... Remember in Revelation where God is addressing the church at Laodecia and He says I wish that you were either hot or cold, but because you are lukewarm ( full of the other cola and full of arsenic ) I will spew you out of my mouth.... Now, that passage may not make bells and whistles go off in your mind - but it sure should.... When God spews us out of His mouth - we are no longer a part of His body.... Death can come suddenly.... or it can happen slowly.... one drink at a time....
