Christianity in America is undergoing a change in mass acceptance. Whereas it used to be the dominant religion, it is no longer. It did not gain such prominence without sacrifice from historic Christians who bought our freedom. Should we expect a pain-free Christian liberty in our present day and age? Freedom isnt free Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. Psalm 33:12 Our nation was born out of the obedience of people who willingly suffered to form a nation whose God is the Lord. They paid a tremendous price on our behalf. Their sacrifice purchased our freedom. This freedom was not free. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:36 Likewise, the freedom we enjoy in our salvation is not free. Jesus suffered, shed His blood to purchase our freedom. This sacrificial act of Jesus should motivate us to gratitude and obedience. It should not produce complacency or a sense of entitlement in us. Yet, isnt that where many of us find our spiritual hearts? Because of our complacency and entitlement we even feel free to disrespect our Country and our Lord Jesus. We feel that our simple act of confessing our sins and declaring our faith in Jesus should entitle us to a problem-free life. Shame on us. Instead, let us seek to be like Jesus and give praise in all circumstances. I have gained a humble appreciation of the price others have paid for the freedom. Let us rejoice. Let freedom ring!
