Christmas Cultural Joke British, Canadians, Americans, - TopicsExpress

Christmas Cultural Joke British, Canadians, Americans, Aussies and Kiwis will mostly understand this. I am not sure than many others will understand. At Christmastime, we eat a great deal of turkey and ham. Those who follow Christian traditions in the west do this, anyway: Buddhists, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and others will not do this even if they are in America or in the West. Buddhists will eat the ham along with Christians, but for Jews, Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs(?), that is like plopping a dog on the table. (Am not sure about Sikhs -- they have different dietary habits -- must ask a Sikh expert on that one.) Korean Christians might eat dogs on no special occasion, but this is highly frowned on in the USA. In fact, it will probably get him tossed into jail. (I do not know.) One of the methods for cooking ham makes the skin crunchy. We call this cracklins. Taking it a step more, Americans sell pork skins in stores around America. Thais also eat the same pork skins and they taste the same in the USA and Thailand -- although Americans also sell the skins in many gourmet flavors. But the plain skins taste the same in America and in Thailand. We also stuff turkey with stuffing (imaginative name!), and eat it by the ton. Then everyone falls asleep from the turkey coma.
