Christmas Day, 1983. I got my first real stereo- a hifi system - TopicsExpress

Christmas Day, 1983. I got my first real stereo- a hifi system with a turntable & a cassette deck. And I received 3 albums on vinyl: - Black Sabbaths Master of Reality, which never quite struck a chord with me. - Quiet Riots Metal Health, which became an all-time favorite. But only after... - Def Leppards Pyromania. I had never owned full albums of pop or rock music before this. Because of the popularity of Photograph and Rock of Ages, the first album I played was Pyromania. I remember being blown away by the opening to Rock! Rock! (Til You Drop). I picked up the needle and played it over & over, louder & louder. This was the album that made me want to crank up the volume for the first time. Def Leppard, just before they truly headed to being more of a pop act. not as heavy as High n Dry, not as polished as Hysteria. Just right. I can still listen to this entire album at full volume. (And I did, this morning)
