Christmas Day in India We awoke to a beautiful Chennai - TopicsExpress

Christmas Day in India We awoke to a beautiful Chennai Christmas morning. Samuel arranged for coffee, noodle cakes, and hard boiled eggs. We joined together for a Christmas devotional. I shared about celebrating Gods presence through Jesus and the Holy Spirit as we have been studying in our quiet times in Luke. I interleaved verses from Luke 1-2 with Christmas carols to inspire us to glorify God. We all boarded the buses for our trip to visit senior citizens with leprosy. This home was not run by HOPE. It housed about 30 senior citizens. We spent time connecting with these wonderful people who were visibly marred by this disease that resulted in them being separated from their communities. We sang Christmas Carols and a few Tamil hymns. Then Ian shared for the group our encouragement to them and Martin announced that HOPE Foundation would be purchasing a new television to replace their broken TV. The residents cheered. As we started to leave, my new friend took us back to his art studio where we were all amazed by their talent. We took the buses to visit one of the HOPE donors who offered to feed our entire crew vegetarian Christmas dinner. We arrived at the property which turns out to be the future location of a retirement community. We marveled at the quality of the building construction, the variety and quality of the food, and the warmth and generosity of the family. The meal and fellowship was heavenly. Bellies full and bodies tired we boarded the buses to return to SU.
