Christmas is a season of giving. But often we get so caught up in ourselves and our lives we lose the joy in the actual giving. As a child, my Nana and parents always instilled in us the importance of doing for others in need, especially at Christmas. I think its something everyone should do. Many people do not think about the Foster children (I didnt before I was a social worker) at Christmas time for several reasons, you just dont know any (at least to your knowledge) or you assume the state takes care of them. Many of these children come into custody right before Christmas. Can you imagine being a child and having to be away from your home (no matter how bad it may be) and your family for Christmas?! These children go through more than you can imagine. It doesnt take much to bring a smile to these childrens faces. So I ask you to consider sponsoring a Foster child at your local DSS. If you cant, then any donation of a new toy or money would be greatly appreciated as well. This year you could make a childs Christmas!!!! What is a better gift than that?!❤️🎄
