Chuken Hachiko, Faithful Dog Hachiko Lets meet 8:00pm tonight at front of Hachiko. If you reside in Tokyo, you would have heard at least once. Hachiko bronze statue is one of the most popular statues in Tokyo located near JR Shibuya station. One of the most popular meeting places as well. What is Hachiko? A pet dog of professor University of Tokyo Hidesaburo Ueno. He was living in near Shibuya station. Every morning when professor Ueno goes to work he and Hachiko walk together to Shibuya station. Hachiko comes to the station alone waiting for professor Ueno when he comes home. One day professor died suddenly never returning to the train station where Hachiko was waiting. Each day for the next nine years Hachiko awaited Uenos return. After published the story by Asahi newspaper people started to bring Hachiko treats and food to him. Hachiko became a most faithful hero dog in Japan. In April 1934 a bronze statue was erected at Shibuya station Hachiko was present at the ceremony. In 2009 Hollywood adapted the story made a film Richard Gere stars Hachi, A Dogs Tale.
