Citizens and the police force are being encouraged to donate blood in a show of support for Deputy Matthew Sculthrope, who is currently being treated at LSU-Shreveport. The blood drive will be held from 2-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Florien Civic Center. On Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, Matthew sustained multiple injuries from a motorcycle accident, including a broken sternum, broken vertebrate in his back, and a broken leg. Matthew is a 2005 graduate of Florien High School, a United States Marine Corps veteran and a Sabine Parish Sheriff deputy. Matthew has received several units of blood already and may continue to need transfusions. The address for the Florien Civic Center is 106 High School Drive, Florien, LA 71429.
