City Government of Malaybalay conducted a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the new city hall situated at Barangay Casisang this City last Monday, September 22, 2014. City Mayor Ignacio W. Zubiri emphasized that this project is dedicated to the people of Malaybalay City as one of the historic events that finally embarks the construction of the envisioned new city hall. “This is what we worked hard for with unity and understanding as a symbol of our city’s progress after a long wait since we have prioritized barangay development projects in the past years,” He said. With the growing demand to address our wide range of clients’ needs, this project aimed to accommodate an ideal work space to better help deliver an efficacy in public service to our constituents as compared to the limitations of the current city hall building and compound. This will also served as a sense of pride being a progressive city after 16 years since the previous city officials looked and acquired a strategic location for the new city hall. The project development site covers a total land area of 10 hectares. It will be constructed on a 2.5-storey building based on the approved budget worth 180 Million pesos. This was attained through an accumulated yearly capped savings in the span of four years of the City Government sourced under the Development Project Fund. During the ceremony, a “pamuhat (cultural ritual)” was offered for the safe and successful implementation of this endeavor, followed by the city officials’ ground breaking to signify the start of this monumental project. Among the participants who graced the occasion are Provincial Board Member Albert Lagamon, Vice Mayor Roland F. Detecio together with the city officials, department heads, indigenous people representatives, media partners and other sectoral groups. Construction of the building already commenced this month of September. The project is estimated to finish within 18 months.
