City Hall (1996) - Al Pacino plays New York Mayor John Pappas in a film where a police officer and drug dealer shoot each other to death, but a stray bullet kills a 6 year old boy and the resulting investigation reveals layers of corruption. Al really plays a ancillary role, as he is seen wheeling and dealing with his longtime friends. He gives a heartfelt speech at the funeral of the slain boy and is very much the skilled orator and knowledgable of history; the film really focuses on the investigation by co stars John Cusack and Bridget Fonda; the ending wasnt completely shown but is seen a mile away. Definitely in Pacinos back catalogue due to his large abscence in the latter stages of the film. Next up for Al is the first of two 1997 films : Donnie Brasco.
