City of Battle Creek Residents! Do you know how to properly dispose of all those leaves collecting in your yard?? There are several things you can do: 1. Place leaves in your specially-marked yard waste container and/or paper bags made for that purpose, and put them out for collection on your usual trash pickup day. Each cannot weigh more than 50 pounds. 2. Hire a private contractor to collect your leaves. 3. Mow them with your lawn mower to create a natural mulch. 4. Haul them to Bryce Pit, the citys compost site, at 715 W. River Road. Its open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through the end of November. 5. Please dont let leaves run into the storm drains. Adopt a storm drain on your street and please keep it clean and free of leaves, dirt, grass clippings and other debris.
