Claes Gunnarsson As one of the leading cellists in Sweden, Claes Gunnarsson has appeard as a soloist in most of the European countries, New Zealand and China. Recent perfomances includes concertos with Gothenburg Symphony Orchetra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Umeå Symphony Orchestra and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra as well as Musica Vitae, Royal Northern Chamber Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra and Swedish Chamber Orchestra. He has been invited to the most prestigous festivals in Sweden such as the Båstad, Umeå, Sandviken and Gotland Chambermusic Festivals as well as Music by the lake Siljan, Peterborough Music Festival, Manchester international Cellofestival and Kronberg Cellofestival performing with Roland Pöntinen, Lynn Harrell Christian Zacharias among others. Claes has won several prizes and awards including Guido Vecchi award, Neeme Järvi scholarship, first prizewinner of the Ljunggrenska competition and prizewinner in the 1998 Kronberg Cellofestival. Between 1998-2000 he was chosed to be Artist in Residence at the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation. He did several recordings wich has been broadcasted succesfully in the whole Europe. After his debut in 1998 with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra performing the Dvorak concerto his was immediately invited to be the principal cellist of the orchestra. He´s had this position since 1999. Claes is playing on a cello made by D. Tecchler 1707 which is a loan from the Järnåkerfoundation in Stockholm. youtu.be/SMPUSL30JqY
