Clarification of Misconceptions and Misinformation The - TopicsExpress

Clarification of Misconceptions and Misinformation The following is written because of the numerous inquiries we have recently received on the subject of Vodun and Hindu deities. There is no particular person, group, organization, or Afrikan ethnicity we have in mind with addressing this. We are simply setting the record straight. We have been getting many inquiries from people stating that they have been told and/or they have seen it stated in various places that the Hindu deities, or a number of them, were originally Vodun deities. There is absolutely no truth to this claim. For starters, the vast majority of Hindu deities have Sanskrit or Hindi derived names and those are not languages which come from any original Afrikan people; not even in India (one will see that the original Afrikans in southern India do not speak those languages as first languages). Known fact. Also, and please pay attention to the pink elephant in the room, this phenomenon of trying to associate Vodun in general to Hindu deities (Hindu imagery in Vodun) is fairly recent. If it were true that these deities were Vodun deities we would have seen this long before its recent stir up (similar to how many Igbo recently are claiming jewish descent). Please read the complete article and share with others. It is time to put a halt to this continuous tide of misinformation being spread about our traditions.
