Class of 76 40th Reunion Take III: Ann Marie with the class of 75 informs me that her classmates that have responded are firm in wanting to have their reunion in September 2015. That being said i believe leaves us two options. A. Keep our original plan of holding our 40th reunion/clambake the weekend of August 12th or19th 2016 and start now getting commitments from classmates to ensure enough attendees to secure a venue(aka Hinderwadels). B. Join up with the Class of 75 and help plan and participate in reunion festivities with them in September 2015. My personal feeling is that we go for option A. With a two year window to get things planned and to get at least 100 people lined up to attend we could do this. We reserve a spot as soon as we can which may not be until next year sometime depending on how far in advance they let us make reservations. Then we take the next year concentrating on the class of 76 and see how many people we can get commitments from and start collecting money to go towards the clambake. This way anybody that wants to attend doesnt have to worry about coming up with all the money at once. By the time reunion comes around the only thing that you have to worry about is money to get to and from Syracuse if coming from out of the area. If by this time next year we dont have 100 firm commitments to attend then we can reach out to other ESM alumni(for example the Class of 81 who would most likely be planning a reunion) and ask if theyd like to join us at our clambake / reunion. Wed still have another year to get the minimum required to have a clambake. Weve had enough people volunteer to help plan the best reunion yet that failure to do so clearly is not an option!! Again this is just my thoughts on the subject. We will go with the plan the majority of classmates that respond desire. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reach out to our classmates that you know dont use these social network sites but would definitely be interested and get their input. If you can get their contact info at the same time even better. Feel free to give them my email address which is [email protected]. i would still like a decision made no later than October 1st so if we CAN reserve a facility now we will. Again all ideas will be considered but even though its 2014 the clock is ticking. p.s. While i LOVE getting together with classmates i would much prefer a happier venue than calling hours. Every time i attend one for a classmate it just reinforces my own mortality. It does however fill my heart with unbelievably profound faith in the humankindness of our class when i encounter other 76ers paying their respects as well. That is something you cannot teach in a classroom. I am truly blessed to be able to call so many of you friends. Heres hoping the next time we meet is filled with nothing but the joy in making new memories. :)
