Classic is a neutered male gray and white pit mix about 5 years old and scheduled to die at noon today. He has at least $150 in donations to the New Hope rescue that pulls him. Classic is New HOpe rescue only. His behavior evaluation says (in part): Classic was alert, he looks intense and focused. He stands upright with his weight centered on all fours, his ears are up and forward, and his head and neck are erect. He holds his tail in natural position. His tail is rigid and immobile. His gaze is directed toward the assessor growling and lunged forward to the assessor. The behavior department decided not to continue with the handling part of the assessment. Classic was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. He approaches the helper dog with his tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed and lip long. Classic was surrender to us. According to the owner he gets along with his children but he needs time to warm up to the strangers. The owner described him as a very active dog and she use to take him to play at the dog park. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
