Well, Ron and I drove to Louisville yesterday afternoon to attend the USAcares 10th Annual Anniversary Dinner and Awards Ceremony which was held at the Mariott East. USAcares is a 501 (c) (3) that exists to help bear the burden of service by providing post - 911 military familes with financial and advocacy support in their time of need. At this years Gala event USAcares gave special recognition to 5 local Louisville personalities in honor of their service to the Veterans communities. Heather was one of 5 Honorees recognized for their work with Veterans. The others were Wayne Hettinger, president and founder of Visual presentations, Inc.(creators and producers of Thunder over Louisville; Louisville Native and retired Brigadier General Rob Givens, founder and president of RPG Consulting; Sam Swope World War ll Navy veteran and owner of the largest car dealerships in Louisville and central Ky. and also Humana Inc., headquartered in Lousiville having had a long history of service to the military and Veteran communites. The event was emceed by Karen Robey, morning news anchor of CBS affiliate, WLKY and Daughter of the USA Cares Chairman of the Board, Mr. William Roby Sr. Special guest appearances were made by baseball legend, Johnny Bench, triple amputee and author Bryan Anderson, James Rollins and former baseball great Doug Flynn. The dinner was wonderful and guests enjoyed the outstanding music of the Don Krekel Orchestra and entertainment by the Ladies of Liberty specializing in 40s swing tunes. Certainly was an enjoyable evening.
