Claypole & Fernwood Warriors - 2-2. Claypole started brightly, passing the ball well, but Holy Trinity were well organised and limited them to long shots and generally frustrated them by not allowing them any time on the ball. The defence was marshalled well by Jack Gabbitas who switched to midfield to upset the opposition play and win the ball for Holy Trinity. Despite the first quarter ending 0-0 it was an absorbing game between two evenly matched teams. The start of the second quarter saw Trinity begin the brightest by moving the ball forward quickly when in possession, but allowing Claypole to have the ball and break up play when in their half. Supported in midfield by the fast improving Buckley Brothers, Kian & Elliott, Holy Trinity were beginning to look the part. Their patience and organisation was well rewarded when captain, Adam Stevens, won the ball in his own half and quickly passed to Kaeden Bennison who beat one player before splitting the defence and setting William Woodward free to hammer the first goal from just outside the area - 1-0 Holy Trinity. The third quarter saw Trinity start with the wind at their backs and this seemed to give them extra momentum and purpose. With the midfield bolstered by the rugged play of Tobias White, the defensive midfield general, Jack Gabbitas bossing the centre of the pitch, and setting up Trinitys play allowing Kaeden Bennison time to show his trickery and natural skill, and with William Woodward pressuring them from high up the pitch in his now familiar False Nine role, the opposition were running out of ideas and struggling to make any impact on the game. Trinity were almost rewarded for their hard work after William Woodward and Kaeden Bennison combined well to unsettle the Claypole defence and a half chance was only cleared as far as Jack Gabbitas on the outside of the area whose right footed blockbuster hammered back off the post and was eventually cleared. Despite Trinitys dominance Claypole equalised towards the end of the quarter when the ever dangerous Harry Evans scored a well taken header from a corner - 1-1. The fourth quarter got under way with everything to play for, and Trinitys physicality and hard work was beginning to unsettle Claypole, and these battling qualities were rewarded when the dangerous Kaeden Bennison was brought down in the area. William Woodward stepped up confidently and drove the ball home into the bottom corner giving the goalkeeper no chance - 2-1 Holy Trinity. The away side continued to dominate with Claypole unable to cope with Holy Trinitys solid defence and the outstanding Teagan James who continued to frustrate. With Elliott Buckley despatched to man mark the skilful Harry Evans Holy Trinity were looking to press on and extend their lead. Their persistence was almost rewarded when the daring Kaeden Bennison was brought down after some excellent footwork. William Woodward lined up the free kick and unleashed an exocet which hammered against the crossbar and appeared to go in, but unfortunately the referee played on, unsighted by the crowd of players in the box. With seconds to go a spirited Holy Trinity team continued to attack, but were caught on the counter and with the last kick of the game Claypole equalised after the reliable Jude Carter was beaten at his far post - 2-2 An absorbing game full of everything, including nice skill, solid defending, battling midfield play and strong attacking it is fair to say Holy Trinity can be proud of their continuing improvement. Each player should be proud of themselves, especially Teagan James for his excellent defending, Jack Gabbitas for his tireless work all over the pitch, Jude Carter for his solid goalkeeping, Keaden Bennison for being a constant threat and his totally unselfish contribution, the Buckley Brothers for just getting stuck in, William Woodward for 2 well taken goals and for being strong and solid high up the pitch, Adam Stevens for his superb defending and being an excellent captain and Tobias White for getting stuck in all over the pitch. They are all a credit to their club. Goals - William Woodward 2 Assists - Kaeden Bennison 2 M.O.M - Kaeden Bennison
