Clayton memory for today: When Clayton was 11 or 12, he got hooked on rocketry. He LOVED building model rockets. We would go over to Mercer Stadium and wed let him shoot off the rocket. He and Bruce would often soup up the rocket so it would go higher and farther away. The downside... the rocket would be gone forever. We bought him his first few rocket kits then we told him he had to start supporting his own passion~~this was not a cheap hobby. He did little jobs around the house to earn money. A trip to Michaels or the hobby shop was a huge treat when he had earned enough money. One day he told me that he had figured out a way around earning money to buy the rocket kits... he wrote letters to every model rocket company and offered to be a rocket tester. In his letters he said that he would be happy to test the rockets for FREE if the companies would be so kind as to provide the rockets. He was so disappointed because he got no responses from any of the companies. After a while he gave up rocketry.
