Clearing out an old hard drive I just came across this, written ten years ago. Weepa! Ha. A WICKED EULOGY 2004 A musical partnership of personalities like Wicked might come along once in a lifetime. It is a rare thing in a business where egos tend to run rife, that a group of DJ/musicians can set aside personal ambitions in favor of the collective whole. That is what Wicked set out to do in 1991. In America’s most open minded city we fell right in to its psychedelic, free spirit and made it our own as we gladly played our part in the renegade San Francisco tale. But like any good yarn, there must be an ending. The acid house sound system chapter in which Wicked’s star will forever shine bright has finally, and in perfect time come to its logical conclusion. 13 might be unlucky for some. But for us it is a number to live by. There are 13 lunar cycles each year, something we never forgot after all those full moon gatherings at Baker Beach, Candlestick Park & Bonny Dunes. So now we have come full circle - a fork in the road if you will. We gather up the memories and move on or run the risk of repeating ourselves, recycling the magic until all life has been washed out of it. Collectively we have chosen to take this opportunity to wrap Wicked up with the respect that all of the beautiful souls who have danced with us and/or helped out along the way deserve. There are too many characters to thank by name. But each of us - Garth, Jeno, Markie and Thomas remember you all. We are forever indebted and share a kinship and love for you that goes beyond words. We are blessed and honored to have been of service to this fair city of San Francisco and the spirits that protect it. In our travels across the States with our sound system and Clay’s Heaven bus, we were able to spread some of that SF magic. America needs healing now more than ever. It is our hope that the seeds planted along the way will grow to seek out the light. In celebration of 13 years of Wicked we intend to throw one final party in California.
