Clement Chirman > ASUP National Fellow ASUP members, I convey - TopicsExpress

Clement Chirman > ASUP National Fellow ASUP members, I convey to you goodwill from the CNO & NEC. Your strong will & dexterity were strong factors that stirred our union to fathom the difficult storm that characterised our recent struggle. By your collective resolve to stand by the leadership, the last strike was prosecuted to its logical end despite daunting challenges. Today, our union is poised to reap the benefits & this will come in no distant future. This evening our union met with the Hon Minister of Education. The meeting was a continuation of the dialogue between government & ASUP which led to the suspension of the strike. The meeting was very fruitful as the Hon Minister has gone far beyond the rhetoric of promises to take concrete steps towards addressing the issues in contention. He gave strong reasons why government will meet the 3. months period given by our union for it to address the outstanding demands. A ministerial taskforce will be put in place within two weeks to address the issues & ASUP will be on the taskforce just as linkages are being made to handle aspects of the demands that require inter- ministerial collaborations. We are keenly monitoring these processes & shall keep you updated. Our union had promised chapters whose salaries were withhold within the period of the strike that payments would be effected without delay. This has been done in some polytechnics while a few others are still having challenges. We regret the pains imposed on our members as a result of this delay & should like to give the assurance that the matter will soon be resolved. Let us again reiterate the commitment of the leadership of the union to the implementation of CONTISS 15 migration for the Lower cadres & to call on members to exercise patience & trust our efforts as they have done always done. As we explore every appropriate option towards repositioning our sector, we understand & shall continue to appreciate your role in the positive history of the union & the polytechnic sector in Nigeria. Remain blessed. Aluta continua, victora acerta!
